Accra, Dec. 19, GNA - Professor Evans John Atta Mills, the NDC Presidential Candidate on Wednesday congratulated Muslims on the celebrating of the Eid-Ul-Adha Festival.
A statement signed by Prof. Atta Mills in Accra said, the "the period provided our brethren with an opportunity to renew their faith in Islam and to pray for what is good for themselves and the nation and I have no doubt that is what they did."
"As prayers are being said all over the country today to mark Eid-Ul-Adha, I entreat our Moslem brethren to pray for the blessings of Allah the Almighty to continue to abound in Ghana." Prof. Mills said prayers should also be said for Ghana to go through the new year without any untoward happening that would destroy the peace and stability of the nation, especially during the elections next year.
He regretted that Ghanaian pilgrims to Mecca went through some very trying moments and said, "It is my hope that the appropriate authorities will do all it takes to mitigate whatever difficulties the pilgrims may encounter out there." The festival signifies the ultimate sacrifice made by the Prophet Abraham by giving his son to Allah for a sacrifice.
