Bolgatanga, May 29, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills on Friday left the Upper East Region after a two-day working visit to thank the chiefs and people in the area for voting him and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into power.
Whilst in the Region, he paid a courtesy call on the Bolga-Naba, Naba Martin Abilba III and also met with the Bawku Naba, Naba Asigri Abugrago the II, as well as Mamprusi elders and religious leaders. He also addressed a durbar of chiefs and people of the region in Bolgatanga.
President Mills also called on the Tindana, Agongo Abosomo (Custodian of the Land) and visited the bereaved family of the Late Mr. Godern Kwabina Azeiko, a strong activist of the NDC who passed away last month.
He presented money to the bereaved family.
The Tindana advised the President to be firm and steadfast and not to listen to people who would want to cause the downfall of the nation. He appealed to the President to fulfil the promises of the NDC by creating jobs for the youth especially in the region.
