Son of President John Evans Atta Mills joined a UK-based NGO called WAM, to offer volunteer service to children in the Greater Accra and Northern regions.

Sam Kofi Atta Mills is a patron of WAM, which means “What About Me” which has since 2010, been orgainising volunteers from the UK and Europe, to come to Ghana and offer assistance in the form of skills and leadership training to school children in the country.

The group which has been in the country since Boxing Day, this year collaborated with volunteers from local universities in Ghana, and extended services to over seventy (70) kids from Accra and some other kids from the Northern regional capital of Tamale.

Coordinator of the Group Jacqueline Oppong Manu told journalists in an interview on Friday that the group is motivated to offer volunteer services to kids in Ghana as part of their efforts to raise the confidence level of the kids through play, while giving them some academic tutorials including field trips.

Miss Oppong Manu encouraged other volunteer groups in Ghana to do more to support children and help them realize their dreams of becoming who they want to be in future.

She hinted of plans to do more collaboration with tertiary institutions next year, in order to make a better impact on the lives of children who will benefit from the programme.
