President John Mahama has made an astonishing revelation that there was enormous pressure on late President Mills to frustrate owner of Jospong Group of Companies, Dr Joseph Siaw Agyapong when the NDC took over government in 2009.

Though President Mahama who was the Vice President at the time did not mention names, he disclosed that people exerted constant pressure on the presidency to set up a rival company, to force the waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited to fold-up.

“People offered President Mills all sorts of advice when we assumed office in 2009. People wondered why a so-called opposition company should be allowed to operate whiles we can establish a new one.

“But, as we all know Professor Mills, he rejected all the overtures, and rather ensured that government supported Dr. Siaw Agyapong and today this company happens to be the only multinational company owed by a Ghanaian.

President Mahama made the disclosure when delivering an address at the 10th anniversary of Zoomlion Ghana Limited in Accra.

As a socialist party, President Mahama says the NDC would continue to offer financial and logistical support to private companies that have demonstrated readiness to venture into viable business.

“My government is ready to assist individuals to expand their businesses irrespective of the person’s political colorization or financial standing.

“The NDC administration has over the years adopted all-hands-on-deck approach and supported companies that have shown great potential to expand their operations,” the president added.
