Milo Marathon On Saturday

Accra, Aug 20, - The eleventh Accra Milo marathon dubbed "vehicle free marathon race", scheduled for Saturday September 20, was launched in Accra on Wednesday The Vice President, Professor John Atta Mills, will be the special guest of honour. The 42-kilometre race, being organised by the Dansoman Keep-fit Club, will start at The Point (Nungua) and end at the club's house. Mr. Ato Esuman, Human Resource and Public Affair Manager of Nestle (Ghana) Limited, sponsors of the race, said about 55 million cedis would be spent on the competition. Winner of the men's race will receive one million cedis while that of women will take away 600,000 cedis with a special package the winner of the old age division. Mr Esuman disclosed that his company will organise a Nido Junior marathon race for children between the ages of eight and 15 in Kumasi on the September six. He said the sponsorship of both marathon races is an expression of the company's gratitude to Ghanaians for their patronage of Nestle products, especially Milo. Mr Adjin Tetteh, President of the Dansoman keep-fit Club said arrangements have been made with Accra Metropolitan Asembly and the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit to ensure that the participants are not interrupted by vehicles. Present was Mr George Dasoberi, Chief Development Sports Officer of the National Sports Council.
