A small scale miner, who allegedly stole his friend’s mobile phones worth GH¢1,100.00, has been granted GH¢3,000.00 bail by the Tarkwa District Court.
The accused person, Inusah Seidu, 25, who pleaded guilty with explanation to the charge of stealing, claimed he was compelled to commit the offence because of the hardship he was going through.
He will re-appear before the Court on December 29.
Police Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman told the Court presided over by Madam Gifty Cudjoe that the complainant Sampson Asaa is a gold buyer and a friend of the accused person who resides at Tarkwa.
She said in November, the accused person visited the complainant in his house, but after he had left, Sampson realized that his Nokia X3 and Lumia mobile phones were missing in his room.
Inspector Anaman said because of his relationship with the accused person, he made every attempt to contact him but all efforts to trace his whereabouts failed.
The Prosecution said the complainant, therefore, made a report to the police and on December 4, the accused person was arrested for questioning.
Inspector Anaman said Inusah admitted the offence in his caution statement and explained that he gave the mobile phones to one Flecture and collected GH¢250.00 from him; with the promise to return the money for the phones.
On December 6, the Prosecutor said Inusah led the police to the residence of Flecture and the stolen mobile phones were retrieved from him.
