Nana Okromansa Kobina Aggrey, Chairman of the Ghana Timber Association (GTA) has called for the resignation of the Minister of Lands and Forestry, Dr. Kwabena Adjei.
Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi recently on the recent developments in the timber industry, Nana Aggrey said Dr. Adjei had through his inconsistencies on policy matters affecting the timber trade caused the country to lose millions of dollars.
He disclosed that through the Minister's actions, logs which were priced between $110 and $120 in August, 1994, were now valued at between $30 and $35.
He appealed to the government to dialogue with timbermen before policy statements were made on the timber industry.
