Eastern Regional Minister allays fears expressed by some residents of the Koforidua over what they call a possible military reprisal for the death of their colleagues
The Eastern regional minister has allayed the fears of some residents of the eastern regional capital, Koforidua over a possible military reprisal following the killing of two soldiers in the region.
Reports from Koforidua earlier in the week said some residents of the town had fled their homes to avoid what they fear could be an imminent attack by soldiers avenging the death of their colleagues stabbed to death by a civilian almost a moth ago.
So far both the police and military commands in the region have declined to comment on the incident.
But JOY News sources say police investigators are facing difficulties finding the culprit only named as BELEBELE who has gone into hiding since the offence was committed.
JOY News correspondents in the region say residents of three suburb areas; Krutown, Zongo and Effiduase live in fear.
The regional minister, Yaw Barimah however says there is no reason for people of the affected areas to live in fear.
