Cape Coast, March 7, GNA - The Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur, on Thursday stated that the discovery of oil in some parts of the Western Region was already bringing some business opportunities to the Central Region.
He said considering its proximity, Central Region would benefit from the emerging oil industry and called on the people to take advantage of the situation.
Nana Arthur was speaking at a reception at the residency as part of activities to mark the 51st Anniversary of Ghana's independence. He commended the people of the Central region for ensuring peace among themselves and urged them to forge ahead in development. Nana Arthur said 2008 would be a great year for the region, adding that contracts for the construction of a new stadium and a market had already been signed.
He said the two projects would not only create more jobs for the people, but also give the region a facelift.
Right Reverend Daniel Allotey, Bishop of Cape Coast Diocese of the Anglican Church, prayed for peace and prosperity for the country.
