Mr. Kwamena Duncan, Central Regional Minster at the Week-end cut the sod for work to begin on a GHC9.3 million Food Court for the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
The Project at the North campus area of the University would be completed in six month. It has been designed to provide a healthy environment for students, staff and the public.
The food court would accommodate about 300 vendors of various cuisines and trade and has a changing and washing rooms.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Duncan commended the management of the University for the peaceful environment prevailing on Campus and urged them to maintain it to ensure the smooth administration of the Institution.
He urged the staff and lecturers of the university to cultivate the spirit of team-work to enable them to give the necessary support to management and assured them of his administration’s full support towards such initiatives.
The Vice-Chancellor of the UEW, Rev. Father Professor Anthony Afful-Broni expressed management’s appreciation to the Regional Minister for his words of encouragement and assured him of their preparedness to undertake more developments on Campus.
Earlier Mr. Kwamena Duncan, supported by the Vice Chancellor, unveiled the architectural design of the food Court.
They also unveiled a plaque to inaugurate the Clothing Production Unit Block, furnished with machines, which will offer sewing and embroidery services and also a Food Production Unit and a Restaurant to enable the university to generate funds to support its activities.
