Minister donates 100 bags of cement

Akim Akroso, Sept 22, GNA - Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo, he Minister of Finance, has donated 100 bags of cement towards the construction of a classroom block at the Akroso Secondary School in the Birim South District.

Mr Yaw Amprofi, the District Chief Executive and Mr Osei Frempong, the Special Assistant to the minister, presented the cement that was provided from the MP's share of the Common Fund.

Mr Amprofi said chieftaincy disputes were one of the major causes of developmental retardation in the area and expressed gratitude to the elders of the town who helped to settle a protracted chieftaincy dispute in the town.

He said he hoped the people would now co-operate with the chiefs and elders to promote peace, tolerance and communal participation in the town's development activities.

Receiving the cement on behalf of the school, the new chief, Nana Ofori 11, thanked the Minister for the donation.

He advised the people against political violence or insults at this period of electioneering campaign.

In another development the DCE, on behalf of the NADMO, presented roofing sheets, plastic bowls and buckets worth about 50 million cedis to Nana Kwatomaa Minkyim 11, the Queen mother and the elders of the Akim Bosome Traditional Area whose houses and property, including stool regalia belonging to the traditional area, were destroyed by fire at Akim Swedru recently.
