Deputy Minister of Communications, George Nenyi Andah, is said to be responding well to treatment at the 37 Military Hospital after his involvement in a life threatening accident last Saturday.

Mr. Andah’s vehicle is reported to have had a head-on collision with a tipper truck fully loaded with sand in the Awutu Senya West Constituency in the Central Region – an area he represents in Parliament.

According to reports, Mr. Andah was in the constituency to attend a number of events most of which were funerals.

He was in the vehicle with three other persons – his driver, police guard and an official of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and they all sustained various degrees of injury.

The accident occurred while they were on their way from Awutu-Budumburam to another community when the vehicle collided with the tipper truck fully loaded with sand in a curve at Awutu-Loye.

They were initially rushed to the St. Gregory Hospital at Kasoa where they were airlifted by a helicopter to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

A family source has disclosed that “Mr. Andah and all involved are making greater strides towards their full recovery”.

Meanwhile, aide to the deputy Communications Minister has urged the general public to disregard reports that Mr. Andah has been flown out of the country for further treatment.

A statement posted by the aide on Mr. Andah’s Facebook wall indicated that he had not been flown to the UK or South Africa for treatment as being speculated.

“We’ve just felt the pressing need to come out and emphatically state that, Hon. Nenyi George Andah, has not been flown to the UK, South Africa or anywhere out of Ghana. He is receiving and responding to treatment along with the other victims, right here. Let’s keep our hopes high and our thoughts genuine. God bless us, as we pray”, the statement said.
