Minister inaugurates Volta Education Endowment Fund

Ho, July 19, GNA- The Volta Regional Education Endowment Fund was inaugurated on Tuesday with Reverend Monsignor Hillary Senoo of the Saint Cecilia Catholic Parish in Ho, as Chairman.

Other members of the Committee are Mr. Samuel D. Gyang, Regional Director of education, Reverend Ernest Gaewu, Deputy Director of Education, Nkwanta and Mr. Ebenezer Dzikunu of Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Education Unit.

The rest are Nana Allo Soglo, Likpe Paramount Chief of the Likpe traditional area, representing traditional rulers, Ms Christiana Ndabiwa of Nkwanta District Assembly, Mr Erasmus Korsipa of Kpando District Assembly and Mr Bright Kornu of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council. In his inaugural address, the Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi said the Fund was to help change the downward trend of educational standards in the region since the region's biggest contribution to national development had been quality human resource. He regretted that the Volta Region, which used to be known for the quality of its human resource "had probably been the most hard hit by the problem of falling standards in education."

Mr Dzamesi expressed the hope that members of the Committee would prove equal to the task.
