Minister inspects Tema ICT Park Project

Communications Minister Dr Edward Omani Boamah has paid a working visit to the Tema ICT Park Project where work is being undertaken by the Micro, Medium and Small Enterprise of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The 400-million dollar ICT Park project is a Public Private Partnership initiative created to boost the technology base in Ghana.

The Minister said government has demonstrated its commitment by initiating the construction of the project with a 10-million dollar facility being a sub component of the project.

Dr Boamah said the effort is also to attract the private sector to take the unique opportunity to develop the ICT sector for both local and the foreign markets.

He said the mere presence of the facility in the Free Zones enclaves of Ghana with its attendance concessions was another manifestation of Government’s desire to attract investors.

“Ghana is making progress in terms of ICT infrastructure and I wish to call on the private sector to work together with Government to improve infrastructure,” he said.

Mr Alhassan Umar, Director of Information Technology and Enable Services of the Ministry of Communications, said the project was situated on a 50-acre land that could accommodate more infrastructural projects.

He explained that the project which started in May last year is expected to be completed this year.

Mr Courage Dogbegah, Chief Executive Officer of Berock Ventures Limited, the construction firm undertaking the project assured the Minister that the facility would be completed this year.

He said when completed, the building would accommodate multilateral corporations and enhance the activities of companies to promote their businesses.
