...NPP returns to power
Mamponteng (Ash), Nov 1, GNA - Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, Minister of Defence, has noted that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has laid a solid foundation for the economy to support the accelerated development of the country."Every Ghanaian can bear testimony to what is happening in the country in terms of development in the areas of education, roads and health," he said.
Dr Addo-Kufuor was speaking at the Party's fund raising dinner dance, organised by Alhaji Ahmed Akwasi Yeboah, Kwabre District Chief Executive, at Mamponteng, during which a weekly newspaper of the NPP- "The Patriot" was launched.
He said the NPP had no intention of remaining in power forever and would, therefore, relinquish its authority if the electorate voted against it.
Dr Addo-Kufuor urged the Editor of the Newspaper not to use its contents to attack personalities, adding that the NPP abhors such behaviour.
He bought the first copy for two million cedis. Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, expressed the hope that The Patriot would be one of the best in the country to educate and inform the people on burning issues.
Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, a Deputy Minister of Finance, stressed the need for the Newspaper to live up to expectation in promoting the programmes and activities of the Government. 01 Nov. 04
