Minister presents tools to districts

The government has presented start-up tools to six districts in the Western Region towards training of selected unemployed youth in the districts.

The items include 100 boxes of sewing machines, 100 over-lock machines, 50 auto toolkits, 80 hair dryers, 80 hand dryers, 80 electrical tool kits, 80 curling tongs, 78 hair straighteners and 100 scissors.

The beneficiary districts are Shama, Aowin Suaman, Sefwi-Wiawso, Tarkwa Nsuaem, Nzema East and Bibiani Anhiawso Bekwai districts.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony at Sekondi on Tuesday, Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, the Western Regional Minister, said the equipment was in fulfillment of the government’s commitment towards providing employable skills to the youth.

The equipment was funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) through the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training.

Mr. Aidoo said the rest of the districts would receive theirs in the coming months.

Receiving the items, the Municipal Chief Executive for Nzema East, Mr. James Ackah Cobbinah, expressed his appreciation to the government and pledged to make good use of the equipment.**
