Minister says NDC has brought more development to the north

Kadema (U/E), Jan 3, GNA - Mr. John Tia Akologu, the Minister of Information, has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government had brought more development to the three northern regions than the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

He said this when he and the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Martin Amidu, paid courtesy calls on some chiefs during a tour of districts in the region. Mr Akologu, the Member of Parliament for the Talensi, said it was the previous NDC government that brought good roads to the north as well as electricity and the present government is continuing with this development agenda. He said travelling on the 100-mile Tamale/Bolgatanga road used to be an ordeal but this was brought to an end following the construction of a first class road.

Mr. Amidu said the government had a lot of good programmes and policies in place to address the poverty situation in the area. These include construction of more roads, rural electrification projects and portable water.

Mr Amidu said the government was committed to the development of the country and appealed to the chiefs and people to exercise restraint whilst government delivers on its promises.

The chiefs and people were full of praise for the government for its good policies and programmes and appealed for more development projects to help address the disparities between the area and the South. 0
