The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darffuor, Wednesday refused to read his speech at the opening ceremony of the maiden Eastern Star Awards/Paramountcy Trade Expo citing poor organization.
The angry Minister after blasting the organisers went to sit in his chair without reading his speech.
“I am not seeing the Paramount chiefs here. None of them is here and we have empty stands, we should be serious people. So what am I going to say and to whom am I saying something to? Really! Really! I am taken aback, I don’t know what to say. So maybe I will have to wait when we have the people I can make a speech (Minister Folds speech angrily leaves the podium to sit down).”
The event was being organized by the Eastern Region House of Chiefs and the Centre for National Culture in collaboration with the Media General (TV3) and the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL).
The event is to recognise distinguished personalities from the region who have excelled in their various fields of endeavour, Celebrate the achievements of past and present individuals, businesses and corporate institutions, as well as the rich cultural diversity of the people and to attract investments to the region.
The event which has seen several postponements after the initiall date of May 17-18, 2018 finally began Wednesday, September 19 and is expected to end on the 22. The program, however, seems to be struggling.
Paramount chiefs and traditional rulers, as well as exhibitors expected to take part in the event, did not show up as expected.
