Accra, April 29, GNA - Ghanaians in the hospitality business has been urged to develop good maintenance culture to protect their facilities from deteriorating as well as providing high quality services to their customers.
Ms. Shirley Ayorkor Botwe, Deputy Minister of Information said hospitality businesses who fail to maintain clean environment and good customer services were likely to loose all their clientele and fall out of the industry.
Ms. Botwe made the statement during a visit to the new Pentecost Guest House at new Gbawe in Accra.
The magnificent project, which cost 7.5 billion cedis, was initiated in 2000 with proceeds from the retirement benefits of pastors of the Church of Pentecost.
The guesthouse that has been rated as a two star facility by the Ghana Tourists Board (GTB) has 28 rooms, 120-capacity conference room, five executive suites and a restaurant. Ms. Botwe advised the management of the facility to take advantage of the conducive environment created by government to market the place and attract more customers.
She also commended the church for its immense contribution to the community and urged them to replicate such example in other parts of the country.
Apostle Ephraim Koblah Barabu, Chairman of the Pentecost Pension Board appealed to the Minister who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area to help the church construct the main road leading to the Guest House. He said even though the Board had been able to construct a gutter at the right side of the road to the mains, the rough nature of the entire stretch has denied the facility most of the customers it should have. "We believe that the day this problem is solved, the beauty of the hotel would be seen and tourists would start to patronize this place," he said.
Apostle Koblah Baraku later presented a copy of the Bible to the Deputy Minister to show the appreciation of the church for the visit. 29 April 06
