Ministerial reshuffle: Bagbin mustn’t be a “stomach politician”

Political activist, Dr Sekou Nkrumah, has told XYZ Breakfast Show host, Moro Awudu, that Alban Bagbin will be seen as a self-serving politician if he accepts any ministerial appointment from President John Mahama.

“He will quickly go down [in history] as a stomach politician”, Dr Nkrumah said Tuesday.

The former Minority and Majority Leader recently lashed out at the president over what he perceived as his luclustre fight against corruption.

Bagbin incurred the wrath of the president’s aides after his harangue.

A publication by the Daily Guide Newspaper Tuesday said Bagbin has been penciled down as Defence Minister in a looming ministerial reshuffle early 2014. He is currently a member of a presidential task force supervising the execution of the president’s major campaign promises.

Dr Nkrumah says accepting a ministerial position just a few weeks after pummeling the president will be reminiscent of a similar instance during the Mills administration in which Mr Bagbin, after taking the late Mills to the cleaners, accepted a ministerial position.

According to him, it will be puzzling for Bagbin to jump at a Ministerial opportunity, if offered one.
