Wa, Aug. 25, - The Ministry of Education has been called upon to train more life skills teachers and make the subject examinable at senior secondary school level. Mrs Lucy Diana-Kokoro, Upper West regional co-ordinator of Ghana Home Economics Association (GHEA) made the call when she addressed a five-day workshop for 50 life skills teachers at Wa. The workshop which was organised by GHEA and sponsored by the Association of Saskatoon Home Economists (ASHE) of Canada treated topics like food and nutrition, health and sanitation, creative skills, clothing and textiles and family life education. Mrs Kokoro said since the objectives of the new education reforms include making students self-employed, it is important to place emphasis on vocational and technical subjects. Mr Abu Juam, upper west regional director of education, advised the teachers to impart their newly acquired knowledge to their students.
