Ministry assists communities with gari processing machines

Amasaman (G/A), Aug. 28, GNA- The Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs has assisted three cassava growing communities in the Ga District with three gari processing machines worth 22.5 million cedis. The ministry has also granted 25 million cedis as loan to the communities to purchase cassava for processing into gari and tapioka for export and local consumption.

The beneficiary communities are Akoteaku, Oyarefah and Ayi-Mensah, near Amasaman all in the Ga District.

Presenting the machines on behalf of the ministry, Mr Samuel Nii Aryeetey Attoh, Ga District Chief Executive said the government has provided a number of development projects including electricity, boreholes and gari processing machines in the rural areas, adding, "this is the positive change that the NPP government promised the people." He said the machines are not free and that they will be paid for in two years and the loans repaid in one year.

Madam Agnes Bronya leader of one of the Akoteaku women groups commended the Ministry for the assistance, which will help them to improve on their living conditions. 28 Aug. 03
