Ministry commends scholarship donors

Accra, Oct 19, GNA- The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports on Monday commended organisations that have been offering scholarships to children and wards of their workers.

A statement from the ministry commended the Ghana Mineworkers Union of the Trade Union Congress for instituting an education fund with an initial deposit of 200 million cedis to benefit about 50 brilliant children and wards of the union members.

It said the ministry was gladdened that Golden Tulip Accra has also offered scholarships to 22 new entrants to primary, secondary and tertiary institutions this year.

This brings to 67 the number of staff children benefiting from the scholarship programme since it was instituted in 2000.
