Minority Help Was Insignificant In 2000 -Botwe

The NPP General Secretary, Mr. Dan Botwe, has described the help his party received from the minority parties in 2000 elections as insignificant.

In an interview with THE INSIGHT, Mr. Botwe said his party won 100 parliamentary seats in that election without the support of the minority parties, adding that, President Kufuor came first in the first round of the Presidential ballot also without the support of the minority parties.

To him, it was only during the second round of the Presidential ballot that the minority parties assisted the NPP to obtain 51 per cent of the total votes cast.

Mr. Botwe was however quick to note that, the Kufuor administration is co-operating with all the opposition parties to facilitate national development.
