The Minority in parliament have commiserated with the families of dancehall artiste Ebony Reigns and two others who died in a fatal crash on Thursday, 8 February 2018.

Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday, 9 February 2018, on the True State of the Nation, used the opportunity to offer words of condolence to the families.

“We mourn the unfortunate demise of that exceptionally talented and amazing young Ghanaian musician, Ebony, [Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng]. Our deepest condolences to her family, her fans and the entire nation. A promising enterprising musician is gone, we commiserate with those who perished in the fatal accident and pray that the good Lord will comfort their families and loved ones,” Mr Iddrisu said.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his immediate predecessor John Dramnai Mahama, have also tweeted to mourn the award-winning artiste.

Ebony was discovered by renowned musician Bullet of Ruff n Smooth fame when she sent a recording of her voice and was signed to his Rufftown record label just a day after listening to the recording.

Ebony came out with her first single, "Dancefloor", in December 2015. The song became a hit on radio landing her nomination for the unsung category at the 2016 Ghana Music Awards. In March 2016, Ebony released her major hit single "Kupe".

Her latest song “Maame Hwe” is enjoying massive airplay across the country.
