Minority notifies police as it prepares for #OccupyBoG protest on July 30

The protest will be led by Minority Members of Parliament The protest will be led by Minority Members of Parliament

The Minority caucus in Parliament has formally notified the Ghana Police Service of their intention to stage a demonstration. The protest demands the resignation of Dr. Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), and his two deputies.

Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, addressed this notification in a letter to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command.

In his letter, Ayariga underscored the caucus's firm stance on not only calling for the resignation of the governor and his deputies but also advocating for the departure of all current members of the BoG's Board.

Scheduled for Tuesday, July 30, 2024, the protest is set to begin at 8 AM and conclude by 6 PM in Accra, specifically within the Greater Accra Region.

This demonstration will start from the Obra Spot, located at Kwame Nkrumah Circle. From there, demonstrators will march through Adabraka towards Kingsway, culminating their procession at the frontage of the Bank of Ghana headquarters.

A primary concern voiced by the Minority caucus centers around the ongoing construction of the BoG's new head office at North Ridge.

This development has sparked significant apprehension within the caucus, prompting them to take proactive measures in expressing their dissent through a peaceful assembly and protest.
