Koforidua, Nov. 21, GNA - Suspected minors with voter identity cards who go to the polling stations to cast their votes could not be prevented from voting but party agents could report them to the police for their immediate arrest.
Mr David Adeenze Kanga, Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) in-charge of Finance and Administration, said this at the training of trainers of polling agents in the Eastern Region in Koforidua on Wednesday.
He appealed to heads of educational institutions to educate pupils and students in their schools who are not yet 18 but had been deceived by some politicians to register to desist from voting to save themselves from the embarrassment of going to jail. Mr Kanga said the EC would be providing lunch for all the electoral officers that it would engage on polling day so that none of them would be tempted to depend on any political party for their meals. The workshop was attended by 28 Returning Officers and 57 Deputy Returning Officers from the Eastern Region who would serve as resource persons for the training of polling agents of political parties.
