Accra, June 29, GNA - Dr La Verne Stevens, Executive Director of Joseph Alliance Incorporated, a US based Christian organization that provides humanitarian services in African countries, on Thursday identified and pledged support for the Joseph Project to be launched in Ghana next year
The Joseph Project is an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism and Diasporean Relations aimed at encouraging African Americans in the Diaspora to visit Ghana at least once in a lifetime.
Dr Stevens noted her organization had similar visions like Joseph Poject and explained that the name Joseph Alliance was taken from the biblical story of Joseph.
She said her organization would gather African American Christians, who had the desire to come and work in Ghana and encourage them to come back saying, "w need to recognize that there are Josephs in the United States".
She expressed belief hat it was God's appointed time to unite Africa.
Madam Patricia Sims, a missionary with the group, said she was overwhelmed by Ghanaian hospitality and announced that she would come and stay permanently in Ghana from March next year. She said Ghanaian youth should be taught to be patriotic since Ghana had a lot to offer.
Mr Emanuel Hagan, Director of Research, Statistics and Information at the Ministry of Tourism and Diasporean Relations, noted that Joseph Alliance and Joseph Project had the same vision. He urged the group to sell the project extensively to Africans living in the Diaspora.
