A welder, Quarshie Bruno, who attacked a student and stole her phone at Dansoman has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour.

The presiding judge at the Accra Circuit Court, Aboagye Tando warned that the sentence should be a deterrent to others.

According to prosecution, on the 10th Sept, 2017, whiles the complainant, a student was returning from school around 10:30pm Bruno snatched her Samsung Mobile phone worth Gh 860 Cedis.

The student, Ruth Birago Owusu then started shouting for help that attracted sympathizers including a Taxi driver, who chased the accused and apprehended him and handed him over to the Dansoman police.

The accused denied robbing the lady but after the phone was found in his pocket, he changed his plea saying he wanted to show love to the lady.

The presiding judge said since robbery is a 1st degree felony, the accused must be sentenced up to 10 years.
