MoneyGram launches 2015 ‘Awaa Waa Back to School Essay competition'

MoneyGram’s partner agents have launched the 2015 Awaa waa Back to School Essay Competition at Osu Home Primary and Junior High School.

Launching the event, the Regional Director for MoneyGram Anglophone West Africa, Mrs. Kemi Okusanya, encouraged all students to read more and participate in the promotion by way of writing the Essay with the topic “What will you do for your school with GHS 10,000.00”?

She told the pupils that, by participating in the essay competition, they stood the chance of providing the school with a new facility.

She mentioned that MoneyGram in collaboration with its partner banks has collaborated with Junior Graphic over the last three (3) years to raise the standard of education and literacy in deprived schools.

The grand price of the competition includes GHs10, 000.00 for the winner’s school to be put to good use. The winning essay and ten (10) other essays will also win scholarships to support their education.

A former student of Osu Home Primary School, Mrs. Perpetual Annan of Access Bank Ghana, urged the students not to be worried about their current environment, but they should dream big and aim very high in life all their life endeavours in order to achieve great thing for Ghana.

Mrs Abigail Hagan, Events & Promotion Manager of Graphic Communications Group Ltd; inspired students to continue reading Junior Graphic as the newspaper is an excellent reading material for pupils.

She mentioned that Junior Graphic has increased its pages to provide more relevant content for its audience.

A donation of MoneyGram branded items such as 4,000 exercise books, water bottles, lanyards and 5,000 copies of Junior Graphic was given to Osu Home Primary School, African Unity School & South La Primary School.

The Deputy Director Supervision & Management, Mrs Mercy Emefa Boateng, accepted the donation and urged the students to study and be serious in everything they do and not to allow bad habits to destroy their education.
Present at the ceremony was Mrs Francisca Anaba, Circuit Supervisor,, Mrs. Penelope Adizah Alhassan, Headmistress, Osu Home JHS, Mrs. Betina Ogyiri, Headteacher, Africa Unity JHS, Theophilus Nai, Headteacher, South La Primary School and Mrs. Emma Attey Headteacher.

The event was also attended by representatives of 15 partner banks, other MoneyGram officials including the Snr. Marketing Manager, MoneyGram Anglophone West Africa, Mr. Kofi Akyea; the Regional Operations Manager, MoneyGram Anglophone Wes Africa, Mr. Patrick Appiah.
