A lawyer and a member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Kwame Jantuah, has said that the owners of Montie FM, an Accra-based radio station, should also be imprisoned alongside the Montie trio. He said this on the Maakye show on TV Africa.
“I feel that the owners of Montie F.M. should also be imprisoned. Mr. Kow Ansah (CEO of TV Africa) takes full responsibility of TV Africa. I’m sure that if someone makes an unpleasant comment, he will call to admonish the person. I think that those who own Montie F.M. should have cautioned the host, a.k.a Mugabe, and instructed him to tune off the panelists,” the legal practitioner elaborated.
He also advised those calling on President Mahama to grant the Montie trio a presidential pardon to shun that act since the President has little influence on that matter.
“The institution of the Supreme Court was insulted by the young men. That is why they were charged with contempt, and not any criminal offense. How can the President come in? There are two different types of offenses; this case is contempt, subjected to the court; the other is a criminal offense. The President can only minimize the sentence,” he advised.
He also charged President Mahama to be bold enough to declare that he will not initiate any action on the issue, since doing so would seem like pitting the executive arm of government against the judiciary arm.
