Accra (Greater Accra), 23 April, Ghana is to receive between 150 and 200 tourists from Denmark every fortnight, starting from December, this year. This will earn the country two $2 million every month, Mr. Torsten Edens, Area and Contracting Manager of Larsen Reiser, the biggest tour operating company in Denmark said in Accra today. During discussions with Mr. Mike Gizo, the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Edens said Ghanaians are "nice and friendly, which makes the country a haven for tourists". He, however, said the only problems are "insufficient hotel facilities and tour coaches" and the granting of visas to tourists. Mr. Gizo gave the assurance that his ministry and other stakeholders in the industry are doing all that they can to redress problems encountered by tour operators and tourists. He said steps are being taken to streamline the processing of visas for tourists while the private sectors is being encouraged to invest in the hotel sub-sector. "We are updating all existing tourist attractions and will soon come up with comprehensive documents on them". Mr. Albert O. Botchway, Managing Director of Our God Reigns (OGR) Travel and Tours, who are co-ordinating the programme said Mr. Edens is in the country to assess tourism potentials and facilities available.
