Accra, March 6, GNA - Several countries continue to send congratulatory messages to Ghana on the occasion of the 51st Independence Anniversary celebration which falls on Thursday, March 6. A release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said President John Agyekum Kufuor received the goodwill messages from India, South Africa, Singapore and the Republic of Korea.
The Indian President, Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil stated; "it gives me great pleasure to convey my warm greetings and those of the government and the people of India to you and the people of the Republic of Ghana on the occasion of your national day.
Singapore President S.R. Nathan expressed his pleasure to extend on behalf of the people of Singapore to Ghanaians, "our warmest congratulations and good wishes on the achievements made in advancing the economic growth, prosperity, progress and peace of your country and your people".
President Lee Myung-Bak of the Republic of Korea stated: "the past years have witnessed significant growth in mutual understanding and cooperation between our two countries, as highlighted by the participation of the special envoy of our government in the 50th anniversary of national independence of Ghana last year.
"I am confident that our friendly and cooperative relations will be further advanced to the mutual benefit of our two peoples in the years to come.
