More fans for Akufo-Addo after latest address on coronavirus

Another address, another set of appellations, adulations and hero-worshiping comments for the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Since the first case of the virus was recorded in Ghana, the President has scored high marks on the scoresheets of social media users with his powerful and profound speeches.

The President’s fifth address, which saw the announcement of free water for Ghanaians for three months was greeted with commendations with allusions made to the effect that the government was scoring political points with its interventions.

Last night, the president once again addressed the nation and like the previous one announced another set of interventions which he reckons will mitigate the impact of the virus on businesses and households.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said that government will cover the bills of low consumers of electricity for the next three months.

He also announced a 50% discount for consumers whose consumption exceeds 50-kilowatt hours per month.

“We have decided further measure of mitigation for Ghanaians for the next three months… Government will fully absorb electricity bills for the poorest of the poor, i.e: lifeline consumers. This will cover persons who consume 0 to 50-kilowatt hours per month for this period. This forms part of relief interventions by the state amid the novel coronavirus pandemic".

"Other categories of consumers will enjoy a 50 percent discount within the same period. For all other consumers, residential and commercial, the government will absorb 50 percent of your electricity bill for this period using your March 2020 bill as the benchmark”.

Social media has been buzzing with messages of praise for President and of course with trolls for the opposition leader, John Mahama.
