More rains are expected to hit the capital city of Accra in June and July this year according to the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) at Korley Klottey, MyNewsGh.com reports
Daniel Odei Appiah is therefore warning residents living in water prone areas to relocate to safer areas in order to avoid floods which has become an annual ritual in the nation’s capital
“We are getting indications that it is going to rain heavily so we don’t want life and properties to be affected badly like we are seeing now.
Let’s all protect ourselves, let’s all guard against such occurrences”, he advised residents of Accra when talking to the media.
He pointed out that NADMO is ever ready to provide assistance to those who will be affected by the heavy downpour of roads, but wants people to practice the precative measures first.
Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Korley Klottey, Samuel Adjei-Tawiah said: “We will continue to do what we are doing to make sure that if it rains enough of the water will get easy access into the main drain.”
He advised residents in his municipality to prepare for the heavy rains this year, ensuring that their drains are always empty of debris.
