More than 180,000 students record ‘F9’ in 2019 WASSCE

The West African Examinations Council on Monday announced that it had released the results for the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school candidates.

Statistics of this year’s results result show that there were improvements in the performance of candidates at A1-C6 in all the core subjects.

Also, the number of F9’s recorded by candidates this year was relatively lower than was was realized in 2018.

Regardless of the improved performance of the candidates, the number of candidates whose results have been withheld pending investigation into various cases of examination malpractice detected during and after the conduct of the examination have gone up.

The exams Council has hosted the results online and can be assessed by candidates.

ABC News can report that a total of 346,094 candidates entered for the examination. This figure is 9.2% higher than the 2018 candidature of 316,999.

The 2019 entry figure was made up of 170,857 (49.37%) males and 175,237 (50.63%) females.

The examination was conducted for 987 participating schools. A total of 2,322 (0.67%) of the candidates who registered were absent from the examination.
