Tamale (N/R), Sept. 12, GNA - Reports reaching the Northern Region office of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO)indicate that more than 300 people have fled from the Republic of Togo to the Zabzugu District following a dispute between two tribes in that country.
Although the cause of the dispute is not yet known, it is suspected to be linked to a land dispute between the Bechamba and Bekacha tribes in Togo.
Alhaji Abdulai Mahama Siliboma, Northern Regional Coordinator of NADMO, briefing journalists on the situation, in Tamale, said NADMO was making efforts to assist the refugees with tents and other relief items.
Meanwhile, a team of NADMO officials and journalists have arrived in the Zabzugu District to assess the situation.
