Mornah fights Sekou over cash

Bernard Mornah has launched a blistering attack on son of Ghana's first President, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, describing him as 'politically immature”.

Dr. Sekou is reported to have alleged that the People's National Convention (PNC) general secretary's parliamentary bid is sponsored by Mr. David Lamptey, Chief Executive Officer of Sidalco limited and staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He is seeking to contest the Wa Central seat in the Upper West Region.

Mr. Mornah in an interview with an Accra based radio station described the allegation as unwarranted and malicious.

He said: “as a politician, I will go to anybody including you to seek support, so for anybody to say that my friendship with one person or another means that the person is responsible for my political ambition, I consider that person not politically mature.”

“Is it a crime to get sponsorship? Let Sekou know that when his father returned from the United States of America, he did not come to Ghana with a portfolio of money. It took his father’s ingenuity to raise money from all sources to be able to finance his agenda,” he added.

He insisted that the attacks on his personality would not prevent him from seeking financial support from friends and well-wishers to execute his political ambition.

“I will go to people who believe in me for support, but what I will not do is to compromise my principles because of sponsorship. If you sponsor me, I will take,” the general secretary bluntly asserted.
