The Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana His Excellency Mohammed Farahat has pledged the financial support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Ghana towards the construction of a new Maternity Block for the Nsawam Government Hospital.

His Excellency Mohammed Farahat made the pledge when he and the MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri Hon Frank Annoh- Dompreh visited the Nsawam Government Hospital on Monday for the Ambassador to learn more about the condition of the Hospital.

His Excellency Mohammed Farahat said the Embassy will also give scholarships to some staff of the hospital to pursue training in Morocco to build their capacity.

The Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana also promised to help form an Association of Friends of the Nsawam Government Hospital to help mobilise support for the Hospital.

The MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh described the promises made by His Excellency Mohammed Farahat to the Nsawam Government Hospital as great news and thanked him for his good plans for the hospital.

The Medical Superintendent of the Nsawam Government Hospital Dr Kofi Abloh who briefed His Excellency Mohammed Farahat about the hospital said the congestion at Maternity Ward of the Hospital makes it very necessary for the facility to be expanded.

According to Dr Abloh the number of patients who reported at the Out Patients Department increased from 131, 892 in 2016 to 154, 225 in 2018 whilst the number of deliveries also increased from 6,158 in 2016 to 6,780 in 2018.

He therefore thanked the Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana His Excellency Mohammed Farahat for his plans to help the hospital.
