Mortal Remains of Major(Rtd) Quashigah flown in

Accra, Jan 13th, GNA - The mortal remains of Major Courage Quashigah(Rtd), former Minister of Health, arrived at Kotoka International Airport(KIA),Accra this afternoon.

Accompanying the remains was Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah, widow, and Mr. Ivan Quashigah, the eldest son of the deceased. The remains which was in a casket draped in the national colours of the country, was led in a procession by pallbearers from the Ghana Army from the gangway of the plane on which it was flown to Ghana, to the forecourt of the VVIP lounge of the KIA.

The body was then received by a government delegation led by Mr. Victor Gbeho, Presidential Advisor on Foreign Affairs, as well as a delegation from the Anglo Traditional Area led by the Dufia of Dzelukope, Torgbui Dzelu, and heads of the Adzovia clan.

Also at the airport to receive the remains of the former minister was the family head of the deceased, his children, a large delegation of New Patriotic Party (NPP) functionaries, including the last flag bearer of the party, Nana Akuffo Addo, the former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama and the former First Lady, Mrs. Theresa Kufuor.

A large number of friends and sympathisers also thronged the airport for the occasion.

Major Quashigah died about a week into the New Year, 2010, in Israel where he had gone for medical treatment. He was 62 years old.
