Mothercare School donates to Relief Services

Accra Oct. 2, GNA - Mothercare School, a private basic school in Accra, on Friday donated items worth five million cedis to the Assemblies of God Relief and Development Services as part of activities to launch its 40th anniversary celebration. The items included a bag of rice, cartons of key soap, sachets of sugar, sachets of powdered milk, loaves of bread and used clothing.

Mrs Sheila Segbedzi, Director of the School, presenting the items, said the donation was aimed at supporting the needy. She also presented a cheque of 2.5 million cedis to the Relief Services to sponsor the education of one needy child and promised that the school would continue to support needy children in the society. The Assistant Coordinator of the Relief Services, who identified herself only as Mrs Mahama, said there was the urgent need to rehabilitate street girls, who were forced onto the streets by circumstances beyond their control. She said the Life-line Street Girls Project, was being undertaken to ensure that street girls were enrolled in schools or learn employable skills.

Mrs Mahama advised students of Mothercare School to learn hard to enable them to acquire skills and knowledge required for national development. Mrs Mercy Obeng, the Coordinator of the Project, commended the School for working hard and seeking the welfare of needy children.
