Osagyefo Amoateng Ofori Panin II, Paramount Chief of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, has expressed worry about the multiple sales of land by some members of the chieftaincy institution.

He said this is tarnishing the image of the institution in the country.

Osagyefo Ofori Panin expressed the concern at the commission of Obaahemaa Ultra-Modern block Factory at Millennium City, Kasoa.

The Obaahemaa factory was established by the 21st Century Construction Group of Companies, spearheaded by Mr Kofi Asmah, CEO of Millennium City Estate.

Osagyefo Ofori Panin said the unfortunate practice of such land sales is retarding development in the country and called on the Land Commission officials to strenuously verify all documents sent to them for registration.

The Paramount Chief also called on commercial banks to offer flexible loans to enable estate developers, businessmen and companies in need, to proceed with their profit generating activities.

Ms Linda Asmah, Chief Executive of the 21st Century Construction Ltd, said the company is taking the appropriate steps to improve the housing concern of many in the country.

She said the factory, with its European standard machines, is the first of its kind in the country that produces pavement blocks, solid, hollow, concrete and all forms of blocks for building.

“We produce approximately 40,000 blocks a day during peak periods and as the real estate industry is fast growing, the 21st century group is committed to play their role to ensure that Ghanaians are provided with the best quality products for their projects”, she said.

Dr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Central Regional Minister and guest speaker for the event, commended the Group for establishing the factory and promised to provide the necessary support when the need arose.

He appealed financial companies to support business of such nature to flourish to add value to the socio-economic development the county.

At an event graced by the chiefs and elders from Gomoa Fetteh, Osagyefo Ofori Panin II, who chaired the event, and other dignitaries jointly cut a tape to commission the facility.
