Musama Church installs new Akaboha

Accra, Dec. 30, GNA- The Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) at the weekend, elected Mr MoknaJeeba Fiifi Jehu-Appiah, a 48-year old Educationist, as the new General Prophet and Head of the Church. Mr Jehu-Appiah who now becomes Akaboha IV was ordained at a special church service at Gomoa Mozano in the Central Region that attracted jubilation from the excited congregation.

Mr Jehu-Appiah's ordination was made possible as a result of a court ruling initiated by the elders of the church that deposed Akaboha III, Prophet Miritaiah Jonah Jehu-Appiah for bringing his office to disrepute.

The court has also cancelled the interlocutory injunction instituted against the Akatitibi, Co-founder and Head of MDCC, Prophetess Mathabinaiah Jehu-Appiah that restricted her from performing functions of the Church in absence of the General Head.

Prophet Hubamoulda Jehu-Appiah, Public Relations Officer of the MDCC, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the ceremony on Sunday that the installation and ordination of the new Akaboha followed a long period of prayers and fasting by the prophets and prophetesses of the Church to choose a new leader for the Church.

He expressed the hope that the ceremony would re-unite members of the Pentecostal faith and rejuvenate their Christian lives. The new Akaboha, who also spoke to the GNA stressed the need for Christians to strive for peace and harmony to facilitate the growth of their Christian lives.

Akaboha IV attended Apam Secondary School from 1973 to 1980 and followed it up with a degree programme at the University of Ghana, where he obtained Bachelor of Arts in English. He studied teaching methodology in various programmes in Moscow, Budapest and Cambridge.

Since 1999, Akaboha IV had been an examiner with the International Baccalaure Organisation (IBO). He had also carried out various researches in religion.

He is the son of the late Prophet Dr. Mathapoly Moses Jehu-Appiah, the Akaboha II and is married with two children. MDCC was founded by Prophet Jemisimiham Jehu-Appiah, Akaboha I, in 1917 and was registered as a church in 1922.
