Musician in court for beating wife

Accra, Sept. 20, GNA - A Circuit Court in Accra on Monday remanded Mark Tontoh, a famous musician for assaulting his wife.

Tontoh, who pleaded not guilty is to reappear on September 27. The case of the prosecution was that the complainant Serwa Ama Tontoh and Tontoh are married and are residing in Accra.

The couple have been quarrelling and have some of these cases pending before the courts despite the intervention of the Women and Juvenile Unit (WAJU).

Prosecution said on September 6, this year, a quarrel ensued between Serwa and Tontoh.

Tontoh beat up Serwa in the presence of a witness and she sustained injuries on her little finger and back.

The prosecutor said Serwa reported the matter to the Police at Cantoments in Accra.

Prosecution said the Police had detected that the parties were not prepared to maintain the peace and based on the frequent reports Tontoh was served with criminal summons to appear before the court.
