Muslims told to let the virtues of Ramadan reflect in their daily lives

Accra, Nov. 3, GNA - Major Shiek Seidu Adam, Chief Imam of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Thursday reminded Muslims not to let the virtues of Ramadan lose its essence, rather, their daily lives should reflect the lessons learnt during the fasting period as they marked the Eid-Ul Fitr.

He exhorted them to dedicate their lives to serving the Almighty Allah in truth and supplication and not to go back to the evil ways, saying, "the spiritual level and purity attained would come to nought if we deviate from the sanctity gained during the period". Major Adam was speaking at the final prayer to mark the end of the Ramadan fast and to commemorate the Eid-Ul Fitr festival at the Al-Aziz Central Mosque at Burma Camp in Accra. Basing his sermon on the theme: "Do Not Let the Virtues of Ramadan Lose its Essence in Our Lives", he called on all professional soldiers, security personnel and public office holders to continue to exhibit the qualities of selflessness, devotion and purity in their work to move the nation forward.

The Eid-Ul Fitr marks the end of a month-long fasting by Muslim across the world.

He praised and thanked Allah for giving them the strength and for his protection during the month-long spiritual period. Defence Minister Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor in a message read for him, commended the Muslim community in Burma Camp for the successful accomplishment of the important religious rite. He said his expectation was that with the level of spiritual attainment, compassion, tolerance, dedication and loyalty to God and the State would be deepened to enhance their professional outlook. He urged the men to continue to render good service to Allah and the nation so as to protect and defend the Constitution at all times to ensure continuous peace and stability in the country.
