Muslims urged to pray for nation to enhance peaceful election

Cape Coast Feb. 1 GNA- The Central Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze, on Sunday joined thousands of orthodox Muslims in the Cape Coast municipality at the Holy Child school park to offer prayer to mark Eid-Ul-Adha, festival of sacrifice.

Alhaji Abubakari Hassan, Central Regional Chief Imam, who led them in prayer, prayed for Allah's blessing for President John Agyekum Kufour, Ministers of State and the nation.

He also prayed for peace and unity in the nation, particularly among Muslim communities and war-ravaged nations.

Alhaji Hassan advised Muslims against involving in violent political campaigns and urged them to ensure peaceful elections. Mr. Edumadze, on his part wished Muslims well in their celebrations, but urged them not to allow political difference to divide their ranks, they should have the welfare of the nation at heart and forge ahead with its development.

He advised them to use the festival to intensify their prayers for the nation to enhance peaceful and incident free elections. The Minister commended the Muslim community for their contributions towards the peaceful atmosphere the region had enjoyed over the years. The Ahamdis Muslims said similar prayers at the Cape Coast technical secondary school.

The Regional Minister, later donated a bull and cash of one million cedis on behalf of the Government, whiles the municipal assembly also presented a ram and one millions. Mr Barton Oduro, NDC parliamentary candidate also donated a bull and wished the Muslims well in their celebrations.
