Sebastian Roy Osumanu has reacted negatively to the report going viral that, his academic credentials with University of Amsterdam (UVA) are fake.

According to him, he was indeed a student at the institution and had graduated on September 1st with a PhD degree in Economics.

Responding to the five acclaimed awards, he insisted that all were true and achieved that through his hard work and total commitment to studies.

It was in the news early on, that, a Ghanaian student, Sebastian Roy Osumanu had swept five awards from the University of Amsterdam.

The report came out that, Osumanu, won awards in Best Economics Researcher (Golden Pens), Best Graduating student, 2017 Research Award, 2017 Millennium Doctorate Best Male award and the School of Business Honor.

However upon a thorough research on the supposed earnings from the Press Office of UVA, authorities of the institution, has debunk the alleged awards and academic credentials of Osumanu.

According to the institution, Osumanu lied about his academic records, as there was no tracer to his academic records of the institution.

The institution also debunk, Osamanu’s gown as shown in the purported picture moving on social media as a student of UVA.

The institutions declared that, they do not use gowns for graduating their PhD student and the gown in the picture going viral was an insult to authorities and Osumanu needed to be queried by letting the law take it cause.

It was also revealed that the academic year of the institution had not yet begun as at September 1.

The authorities also denied knowledge of Sebastian Roy Osumanu having ever been a student in the institution.

About a week ago, the story of Sebastian winning 5 awards at his graduation ceremony when he successfully defended his PhD caught the attention of several Ghanaians who were awed at his seemingly glorious feat.

However, Osumanu has reached out to claim that the comments of the University of Amsterdam on him were false and defamatory.

Sebastian, who was contacted from Turkey, maintained that he was indeed a student at the institution and had graduated on September 1st with a PhD degree in Economics.

He also insisted that he swept away 5 awards at the said ceremony.

The press officer of the university, Johan Rheeder, indicated that there were no record of such student from Ghana having that such a number of awards.

“We can find no record of one Sebastian Roy Osumanu having enrolled at the University of Amsterdam as either a student or a PhD researcher, let alone of him having obtained a doctorate degree with 5 awards, he established.

“Moreover, the university was still in recess on Friday 1 September, the day he is supposed to have defended his PhD”, he added.

When probed to provide some evidence to back his claims, Sebastian stated that he was out of Netherlands currently and could only share images and documentation to back his claim when he returns to the country.

He also spoke on the supposed photoshopped images which accompanied earlier reports of his “feat” at UVA.

Sebastian stated, “I don’t know where those pictures came from. I was even shocked to see those pictures in the public”.
