Hagar Amidu, daughter of the Special Prosecutor nominee, Martin Amidu has described her father as “very qualified” for the job.

Mr. Amidu has already been approved unanimously by the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Starr News has learnt.

The approval, according to credible sources, was made hours after the almost nine-hour grilling of the former attorney general.

“He did very well. This is not his first time,” Hagar told Starr News’ Parliamentary Correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan minutes after the vetting of her father ended. Extolling her father’s absolute abhorrence for all forms of corruption, she noted that he is the man to clamp down on the canker.

“He is very qualified,” she said.

Amidu’s firmness good for Ghana

The Executive Director of the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG) Dr. Emmanuel Akwetey commended Special Prosecutor nominee Martin Amidu for his ‘firmness’ at the Appointments Committee.

According to him, the former attorney general exhibited passion towards the state, despite the long hours of grilling by the appointments committee.

“Martin Amidu is firm on what he thinks is wrong and I think that was a good one. I think Martin Amidu connected very well with the people. If you do not have passion, you cannot fight the course of the people. He really showed that he was experienced. He demonstrated that indeed he was a constitutional activist,” Akwetey noted.

Amidu exudes hope

According to Policy think-tank, IMANI the special prosecutor nominee will live above reproach following a marathon vetting session.
“We at IMANI have greater faith in him that he will work without negative pride, prejudice and preference towards anyone. Amidu is content with what life throws at him and he says it without shame that his asset declaration form wouldn’t be the envy of many a public servant,” IMANI said in a statement.
