An NDC Deputy National Youth Organizer aspirant, Lawrence Nii Odartey Lamptey, has promised to economically empower the youth wing of the party if he wins the upcoming national executive election.

The NDC is set to go to the polls on November 3, 2018 to elect new executives to steer affairs of the party ahead of the 2020 elections.

Speaking after successfully completing his vetting process, Lawrence Lamptey indicated he will work to ensure that the youth wing of the party is economically viable, by setting them up in business to run the youth front in their respective constituencies.

“I am a socialist, I pride myself as a socialist and we all saw what Nkrumah did for the veranda boys and all the other youth who joined the CPP movement. They were given the opportunity to operate on their own. So we had continued with this journey, Ghana youth today would have been like what we called the Malaysians today.

“I will provide economic independence for the youth where they can stand on their own to provide for themselves and the family”.

He added, “The main focus is to look at the areas the youth are coming from, these areas have economic specifics, things that generate income in those areas. My aim is to make sure we identify what generate income in those areas and make sure we fund the youth in operating those projects”.

He further explained that the party youth will enjoy massive educational programs and scholarship schemes across the various TEIN Institutions, Constituencies, Branches, Regions and Comrades in the Diaspora, adding that, the Scholarships would be both internally and externally.

“Our qualified youth would be made to at least study some courses like, Journalism/Media Studies; Medicine; Law; Banking and Entrepreneurship; Oil and Gas among others with a scholarship fund with the source of the funds coming from strategic sources”.

He believes he stands tall among all the other candidates for the deputy national youth organizer position.

He stated “Lawrence Lamptey prides himself as a scientific socialist and as a scientific socialist we are coming up with scientific organization, you look at the exigencies of the time to organize your people. And looking at the other contestants I don’t see much in them as too how to organize people politically and economically and I see myself as standing tall”.

“You look at my profile, things I have gone through, youth organizations I have gone through and positions I have held and sustained makes me stand tall among all other contestants.”
