No doubt, the hairstyle of the newly appointed Minister for Children, Gender and Social Protection, Ms Otiko Djaba has kept the media buzzing for days.

The argument – whether it was appropriate for a Minister of State to keep such funky hairstyle – has also distracted the public from the drama that played out between her and some members of the Appointment Committee.

It has also taken the shine off the court case challenging her new office, as Ghanaians rather prefer to discuss her hairstyle and how it portrayed her as a Minister of State.

Ms Otiko who appear not to care about the stir her choice of hairstyle has caused among Ghanaians – in different interviews with journalists applaud herself for been bold, beautiful and young at heart.

According to her: "My hair style doesn't affect the price of kenkey; my hairstyle does not affect poverty; my hairstyle is a winning hairstyle, it encourages the young people”.

“The Swagger Mama”, as she’s fondly called, says her Rihanna inspired hairstyle brings the youth very close to her since they see her to be very youthful.

“People call me the swagger mama; they enjoy me because I am young at heart and when I hit the campuses they're happy," she added.

On her thoughts on men and opposition who have refused to give her rest, she has this to say: "It is the propaganda of my opponents that’s fueling the criticism. They wish they had my hairstyle, they wish their wives had my hairstyle.

For your information, you have to be confident about how you look and I am very confident about how I look,” she submitted.
